Terry Kurzynski
HALOCK Security Labs
Partner, CEO
Mission:
Terry's focus as Partner and CEO is to properly assess information
security threats and provide appropriate service solutions. Terry helped
found Halock Security Labs in 1996 (formerly Remington Associates, Ltd).
The common theme among all of Halock's clients is a deep concern and
need for in-depth information security.
Having surrounded himself with a core team of security experts, Terry
focuses his engagements with Halock's principal clients, speaking at
events on Governance and Strategy, as well as appropriate paths toward
ISO 27001 registration.
Leadership Qualifications:
A key characteristic of an effective security solution leader is
early-adoption and adaptation within the marketplace.
As a vigilant advocate for security standards and controls, in the year
2000 and immediately upon publication of the ISO 27001/27002 standard
(formerly ISO 17799), Terry led his company to embrace the framework.
Today, due to the success of the initial focus and strategy, not only is
ISO 27001 the foundation of Halock's Governance & Strategy
Services Division, but also a reason clients flock to Halock for
solutions.
In 2006, Terry paved the path for Halock to become a Qualified Security
Data Company (now known as Qualified Security Assessor) for the Payment
Card Industry. Few North American security service providers offer the
full QSA solutions umbrella, and as such, Halock further distanced
itself from its competitors.
In 2007, Terry coined the philosophy Purpose Driven
Security; a professional services vision for information
security practiced by his team for over 10 years.
Business Activities:
Terry has chaired the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce workshops on
Information Security. He is a current member of the Advisory Council for
RSA and sits on the Board of Directors for RLTD Security, Security
Workforce.com and Incworx Consulting. His list of speaking engagements
includes events hosted by Microsoft, RSA and other industry leaders.
Terry graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor's
Degree in Computer Science. He has been in information technology for 15
years, focusing heavily on security the past eight years.
Terry is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP),
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Qualified Security
Assessor (QSA) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
